Best Friend Angel Pin Design

This angel pin was my first angel pin to design. My best friend, Kelly, and I went to visit mom when she still lived in McAllen. Before I ever knew I would be designing angel pins, Kelly and I sat down at mom's designing table and just for fun decided to make an angel pin that we both would wear. We both picked out all of the parts and started to put them together. Before we knew it we had designed this angel pin that we now call "Best Friends". There are all types of friends in the world we live in today. I am sure that you have heard or been some of these types. There is your typical "reason friend". This is someone who has come into your life for a reason. When that reason is accomplished, they will be out of your life as fast as they came into your life. There is also a "seasonal friend". This is someone that comes in and out of your life like the four seasons come and go. In other words, a fare weather friend. Then there is the "Best Friend". This is the one person that you can tell anything and know it will remain with them only. One that you can call on day or night without worry. One that you know is always there for you even though you may not stay in continuous touch with over the years. I personally have had only 4 best friends in my life. One during my high school years, one during my college years, and two since my 30's and 40's. Only three of them still remain in my life today and I know I could call upon any of them for anything.  I know that down in my heart that you have to be a friend before you can expect to build a relationship with a friend. This is sometimes a hard lesson to learn. Both of you have to want your friendship and it will be forever.  That is the comfort of having a Best Friend. This angel reminds me of what a best friend should be. She solidly stands about 2 1/2 inches tall. She has a very bold straight skirt reminding me of steadiness, under-turned wings indicating comfort, a heart on her chest to portray her love and a crystal halo representing truth and honesty.
